It is almost impossible to list the ways in which dogs have benefited society. They have, among countless other ways, served us as guard dogs, sled dogs, police dogs, rescue dogs, and, most importantly, friends. Although apes are closer to us biologically, no animal is closer to us psychologically. Their pack nature, willingness to please, and good nature have made them more than pets, today, they are members of the family.
