One type of Carpenter ant is Camponotus gigas, which are large ants, native to Southeast Asian forests. It is one of the largest ants in existence, measuring in at 20.9 mm for normal workers, and 28.1 mm for the soldiers. Honeydew makes up 90% of their diet, but they will also consume insects and bird droppings. The ant is an intelligent forager, utilizing both efficient communication and recruitment. A handful of these ants may meet at night to engage in what has observed to be ritual battle.
Another type is the Camponotus saundersi, or Malaysian ant, which carries poison sacks throughout their body. When they are attacked, they exude the poison, which is expelled from their mouths, behinds, and breaks in their exoskeletons. Though the ants performing these acts die, the predator that bothered them will think twice before bothering these ants again.
