Explanation
When asked to explain the importance of the small Southeast Asian country of Vietnam, Dwight Eisenhower explained how the fall of one country to Communism would lead to the fall of its neighbors until, like dominoes, the whole of Asia would be lost. Most Americans had never even heard of the Domino Theory. This Domino Theory was cited by many as justification for the Vietnam War.
