'Bear'ly a threat.

For centuries, Finnish and Russian peasants bred the Karelian Bear dog. In Finland they’re a national treasure. Known for their great reflexes and courage, they're used often in hunting as well as protection. They are fierce fighters and will attack a bear so aggressively that the bear will often flee. In Utah, a biologist is training bear dogs to keep the bears away from campers and hikers in national parks. Their greatest attribute though is probably their extraordinary faithfulness. They have been known to defend their masters at all costs, willing even to sacrifice their own lives for that of their masters.
