"<b>A Deer Country.</b><br><br>The white-tailed deer is the most common deer in North America.  It has a life span of 9 to 12 years.   They are about 3 to 3 ½ feet tall at the shoulder.<br><br>Males weigh up to 400 pounds, females are much lighter, weighing around 200 pounds.",

"<b>Danger sign.</b><br><br>The white-tailed deer raises its tail as a flag to signal danger.<br><br>When running from danger, they flip their long broad tail up over their back, exposing a large white underside and white buttocks, which communicates danger to other deer and helps a fawn follow its mother as she runs.<br><br>When nervous, the white-tailed deer also snorts through its nose and stamps its hooves.",

"<b>Run like a deer.</b><br><br>A graceful and beautiful runner, the white-tailed deer runs at top speeds of 36 miles per hour.<br><br>They can also make vertical leaps of 8 ½ feet and horizontal leaps of 30 feet.",

Its diet includes green plants, acorns, beechnuts, corn, and woody vegetation, including the twigs and buds of birch, maple, and conifer trees.<br><br>It has many sources of drinking water including rain, snow and dew. "<b>Family matters.</b><br><br>There are two types of social groupings in the white-tailed deer family.<br><br>One family group consists of a doe (the female deer) and her young. These stay together for an entire year.<br><br>The second group is the buck (male deer) group. The buck group is constantly changing. It will disband then reunite over and over.<br><br>Bucks and does herd separately for the majority of the year, but do come together in winter, creating herds about 150 members strong.",

"<b>Fight for Supremacy.</b><br><br>Bucks in the white-tailed deer family often spar for dominance.<br><br>Displays include stares, lowered ears, and head up and head down postures. Attacks frequently involve kicking and rearing and flailing with the forefeet.",

"<b>Make it on their own.</b><br><br>White-tailed fawns are ‘kicked out of home’ at an early age.<br><br>Fawns are weaned within a few months of birth and will only stay with their mother for about a year.<br><br>The mother usually drives off the young of one year to prepare for the birth of new infants.<br><br>The first time a young doe breeds she usually produces one fawn, thereafter she has twins or triplets.",

"<b>Tiny deers.</b><br><br>There are two dwarf subspecies of white-tailed deer.<br><br>The Coues’ deer or Arizona white-tail found in the Arizona desert, and the Key deer which is native to the Florida Keys area.<br><br>The Coues’ deer has enlarged ears and tail and weighs about 100 pounds.  The Key deer is the size of a dog, and weighs between 45 and 75 pounds.  ",
