Named after the church officials that would bury the dead, the sexton beetle (AKA burying beetle) helps keep the earth clean of small dead animals.<br><br> When the male beetle finds a dead animal he transmits a special scent and harsh rasping sounds to the female. Once she arrives they select a burial plot and dig a grave. <br><br>After the animal is buried the beetles will strip the carcass of its fur or feathers. <br><br>Then the female will drive the male away, so she can feed off of the carcass. After she has her fill she lays her eggs in the desiccated carcass.",
